Lancia Fulvia S1

August 2021

Purchased a 1970 Series 1 Fulvia 1.3 Rallye S from a guy in Otley, North Yorkshire. On the journey home in 28degC heat the car started to misfire but managed to get the car to Ravenshead (first planned pitstop).

Two faults were found, which were the contact breaker points not set correctly and the front discs extremely hot. Easy to fix the contact points but the hot discs suggested seized calipers.

The car was picked up by Green Flag the next day and delivered home.

September 2021

First issue to tackle was the seized pistons, the front brakes were stripped and the original Dunlop pistons used on the series 1 cars were found to be in very poor condition. Decided to buy an alternative set of pistons manufactured by Fosseway Performance. The new alloy pistons and Green Stuff pads were fitted front and rear. The brakes were bled and there is now significantly less pedal travel. Road testing car will wait until the car wiring is assessed.
